Dr. Brown, thank you helping make the 2010 Omega Baptist Church Health Fair a HUGE success! God bless you! Your presentation on Understanding Heart Disease was given in a concise and easy to understand manner. You kept the audience engaged and many spoke to me afterwards of how much they enjoyed the slide presentation as well as your interactive style of teaching. You are empowering people to take control of their health as well as giving them the tools they need to be proactive.

Doctor Brown

I would like to tell you how much you have motivated me to exercise and to eat healthy. Every since the lecture you had here at the hospital I have made wiser health choices and have been exercising regular.

You have truly motivated me to encourage others to be more conscious of their food choices and to add exercise into their lives. Some of our staff on the unit have started off with meeting for morning walks. This has encourage us to exercise separetely as well. Some have joined the gym; others have pulled out their treadmills. And it has allowed us to be more open about our weight and health risks.

I feel this is jus the beginning for us all to a healthier lifestyle and more conscious of our food choices. I wanted to take the time to thank you for your motivation and support. It is not easy but the choice to be active is rewarding. We look forward to one day inviting you on one of our walks (if you think you can keep up).

Thanks again,

Jamila Alexander

Dear Dr. Brown:

Thank you very much for your support of the Metropolitan Wilmington Urban League Guild's Healthy Awareness Day.

The feed back from the participants confirmed the importance of your presentation. For example, the majority said they "planned to share the information with friends and relatives," and several respondents planned to "see a doctor about a health problem they (or a family member) did not know about before."

Thank you and as we move forward to next year's event, we hope that you will agree to sujpport us again (May 14, 2011).

Dr. Brown,

Thank you for an excellent presentation, which you did on Friday, June 11, 2010, at the New Antioch Baptist Church of Randallstown, Md, regarding “Understanding Depression and Suicide.” Your presentation was very informative concerning what clinical depression is and its effects. Also, you did a great job in explaining both the biological and the physiological components of how the brain functions when one is depressed verses when one is not depressed. And as a result, those persons who were in attendance are now more knowledgeable concerning the genetic, physical, and cognitive triggers of depression.

Thus far, I have received nothing but great comments regarding your presentation! In fact, several persons would like to have you to come back to speak on similar issues.

Again, thank you for presenting in a matter that was not intimidating with medical jargon. You use of plain language to explain a frequently misunderstood subject, especially within the African American community, was commendable! Additionally, I believe that your presentation has empowered individuals to understand the seriousness of depression and its consequences, if left untreated.

Thank you for a job well done!

Watching the participants of the El Bethel Health Fair truly understand heart disease (possibly for the first time) was dramatic. The fact that every person visited the high blood pressure, obesity and diabetic tables following the lecture truly showed that they understood the risk factors more than they ever have before.

Thanks for doing all that you do and I hope you continue to educate patients on the importance of understanding their own health.

Dr. Brown’s lecture on cardiovascular disease is enlightening to persons from all backgrounds. The information is empowering and presented in an interactive and entertaining manner. The most impressive observation was the change in the audience’s countenance as the information transcended basic hearing to functional knowledge. Dr. Brown’s lectures are able to ignite lifelong changes in all who attend and are well suited for audiences of every size. Dr. Brown, thank you for sharing your talent in teaching and knowledge of medicine. Best wishes on future endeavors.

I had the opportunity to hear Dr. Jeffrey Brown as he spoke to the Remarkable Women's Ministry at New Psalmist Baptist Church about the healthy heart.

In my profession, I have witnessed lots of doctors communicating with their patients, and I know how important it is to have a physician take time to clearly explain medical issues to their patients. In turn, patients should walk away with a clear understanding what's going on with their health. Many times this just does not happen.

Dr. Brown teaches his listeners how important it is to take charge of one's health. He explained in detail how destructive habits affect heart health and how healthy habits can improve health in terms that everyone could understand.

At the end of the session, every woman who sat in the room told me they learned some things and were now well-informed about maintaining a healthy heart. Dr. Brown told us taking charge is to be informed about health. Being informed helps us to make the right decisions for what is best for our bodies.

I believe Dr. Brown's talk is a must hear for any person who has a heart. That means everyone!

Dr. Brown,

Your discussion of heart disease with the ladies in our exercise program here at New Psalmist Baptist Church was exceptional. You were willing to provide your expertise and your plain language explanations helped us understand the real truth about heart disease and our risk factors.

Even though the pictures of artherosclerosis were quite graphic, it helped our imagination with what could be going on in our bodies if we don't address high blood pressure, lower our cholesterol, stop smoking, get more physical exercise, control our weight....

We really appreciate you taking the time to share with us. Good luck with your book and we look forward to other members of our church being exposed to it once it is in our bookstore. We want to encourage you to keep on spreading your message. We need more health care providers like you who care and are willing to get involved. May GOD continue to bless your ministry of wellness.

Be blessed. Audrey and Angie

Dr Brown, great lecture! My students and I really enjoyed your presentation on heart disease, and other health risks among African-Americans. The Johns Hopkins School of Nursing students, were quite intrigued by your presentation of research-based data to support comparisons made among different populations. We learned so much from you and look forward to attending more of your public presentations in the future!

AMAZING! We decided to tackle a taboo for the Faith community in talking about Depression (big-D). What we learned as a congregation will remove the stigma and people will be able get the help they need. This could not have been done with sermons alone but Dr. Brown's professional approach with spiritual sensitivity has opened the door for greater healing.

Dr. Brown, thank you for a great presentation in support of the Black History month celebration at GBMC. Your discussion on the gaps in health and healthcare between African-Americans and the general population was both enlighting and entertaining.

You did a great job of motivating the audience to take control of thier own health. This was as important a message as any other we could convey for Black History Month. Thanks again, and keep spreading this powerful and important message.

P.S. thanks for having your book available at the event.

Dr. Brown, I thank you for this blog. As a 44 year old man after watching your video about heart disease, I realized I need to pay more attention to my health. I will encourage my Sierra Leonean brothers to do the same.

It is such a honor to know there are still someone like you out there who cares about the well being of people in the world today. This is a bridge for people to come across and receive the information that he/she needs to take control and gain knowledge of there life as well as there loved ones who they cherish from a day to day basis. I think the biggest flaw of most people today is not having the knowledge or receiving the knowledge from his/her physician as needed for them to fully understand. This Book will be that flashlight for them to see and know what's needed to take control and live life marvelously and at ease on things of concern from lack of knowledge or understanding. I look forward to buying my copy of the book and sharing what I learn from it with the people around me. May God continue to Bless you and your family.

Dear Dr. Brown,

In a million years, I would not be able to find words to express the God given abilities you have, to be who you are. I only regret the fact that I did not get your books and other products some thirty or more years ago.

However it was meant to be in 2009, the year of revolution. We thank God for you and we wish you total success, you are one of the best doctors we know. We love you very much.
